I have been thoroughly intrigued by meeting new people and visiting new places since I was a little girl growing up in South Africa and Swaziland. I chose to study journalism because I have always been a communicator and a lover of language and reading. I have been fortunate to live in some of the interesting places I have visited, and have met the most extraordinary people, working as a part-time tennis coach, call-centre operator, travel blogger and English teacher in faraway lands.
I keep coming back, however, to the writing and creating of narratives about people, places and the politics of it all. After gaining some invaluable experience as a journalist at a large community newspaper soon after my return to South Africa, I wanted to spend more of my time focusing on telling stories which leave people a little happier, lighter and more positive than before.
